Angelica Jones was born a mutant with the abilitiy to produce heat.  Angelica decided that her powers should be used for good after she was able to save her father's life because of her mutant abilities.

Peter Parker was bitten by a spider that had been exposed to radioactive rays. The tragic death of his Uncle Ben (a death that Peter could have prevented) taught him that he must use his powers responsibly.

Bobby Drake was born a mutant with the ability to transform the moisture from surrounding air into ice.  Bobby learned during a crisis that his abilities should be used for the benefit of mankind, not just his own.
